1951S The Ethicon SURGICEL® Original Hemostat 1951S is a sterile, absorbable oxidized regenerated cellulose hemostatic agent designed to assist in controlling capillary, venous, and small arterial bleeding during surgical procedures. SURGICEL® Original is used to assist in the management of capillary, venous, and small arterial hemorrhage when conventional methods such as ligation or cautery are impractical or ineffective. The material provides a physical matrix that supports platelet adhesion and aggregation during the hemostatic process. The hemostat is supplied sterile and ready for use directly from the package, with no preparation required. It is fully absorbable and typically resorbed within approximately 7 to 14 days. Designed for single-patient use, SURGICEL® Original is commonly utilized across a wide range of surgical specialties requiring adjunctive bleeding control.
